Škoda Peaq enters production, joining the Octavia on a shared assembly line

Add as a preferred source on Google Škoda has begun series production of the Peaq, its largest electric SUV to date, marking a major milestone for the brand’s EV strategy. The new flagship rolls off the same Mladá Boleslav assembly line as the Octavia, Elroq and Enyaq - an unusual and technically demanding setup that required months of preparation and precise coordination across multiple departments.

Integrating the Peaq into a line that builds both combustion and electric vehicles meant rethinking nearly every stage of manufacturing. Škoda had to adapt its press shop, body shop, paint shop and final assembly processes to accommodate the Peaq's size and weight. The SUV is roughly 20 centimetres longer and 20 kilograms heavier than the Enyaq, and its largest battery pack adds even more mass. Conveyors, handling equipment and skids were reinforced and extended to manage the increased load and spacing requirements.

Because this version of the MEB platform had previously been used only in China, Škoda had to prepare production entirely on its own. The company now manufactures two sections of the platform's rear floor assembly in-house, alongside new press tooling developed since mid‑2024. The most extensive modifications took place during the summer 2025 shutdown, when the body shop and paint shop were reconfigured to support the Peaq's arrival.

Trial vehicles were assembled bolt by bolt in the prototype workshop before pre‑series production began at Škoda's VSC facility. Assembly specialists trained on the new processes and passed their knowledge to colleagues across the plant, ensuring a smooth transition to full production.

With these upgrades complete, Škoda can now build three electric models and the Octavia on a single, highly flexible line - an achievement that underscores the brand's push toward efficient, scalable EV manufacturing. The Peaq, positioned as Škoda's new flagship SUV, is now officially rolling off the line in Mladá Boleslav.
