Infiniti gets more serious about electrification, unveils short-term strategyIn a series of press releases from today, Infiniti has unveiled its short-term strategy and its general stance on vehicle electrification. The brand has announced that by 2021 every Infiniti model will offer its customers a choice between an ICE version and an electrified one. For that purpose, Infiniti will build a new platform that will equally suit hybrid models (no plug-ins) and pure electric vehicles. Either way, it will employ a front- and a rear-mounted motor for an AWD configuration. Unfortunately, there are no many details about the future Infiniti BEVs except for the targeted range - 485 km, and for the power output - from 185 kW to 320 kW depending on the model.

In terms of design, the production vehicles will follow the footsteps of the Infiniti Qs Inspiration which was officially presented at Auto Shanghai 2019 earlier this year. The all-electric AWD sports sedan concept previews a forthcoming Infiniti production model and is the brand's third all-electric concept vehicle after the Q Inspiration concept sports sedan and the QX Inspiration concept crossover.

At Auto Shanghai 2019, Infiniti has confirmed that its first all-electric vehicles will be produced in China for the local market. "China has the most growth potential for electric vehicles globally, especially in the premium segment," said Christian Meunier, chairman of Infiniti. "The age of electrification presents us with an opportunity to renew our credentials as an innovative challenger brand, ready to move quickly and decisively in this growing and exciting area of the market."
