Subaru unveiled the name of its first all-electric C-segment-class SUV that is co-developed with Toyota - Subaru Solterra (SunEarth). Scheduled to go on sale in mid 2022, it is based on he e0Subaru Global Platform dedicated for all-electric vehicle and jointly-developed with Toyota. This platform enables to roll out various types of EVs efficiently by combining multiple modules and components, such as the front, center and rear of a vehicle. While the two companies have brought together their knowledge to create a completely new platform, with Subaru also aiming to realize superior passive safety and vehicle stability. Subaru and Toyota have teamed up not only for the platform development but also for Solterra's design, product planning, performance evaluation combining Subaru's all-wheel-drive technology and Toyota's vehicle electrification technology.
