FCA and Foxconn are in talks for potential manufacturing of BEVs in China

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) officially confirmed that it is in a discussion process with Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Ind. Co., Ltd.) regarding the potential creation of an equal joint venture to develop and manufacture in China new generation battery electric vehicles and engage in the IoV (Internet of Vehicles) business. Moreover, FCA said that the two parties are in the process of signing a preliminary agreement which will guide further discussions in this regard until a final binding agreement is reached in the next few months. However, no party guarantees that such final agreements will be reached or if reached, there's no assurance it will be done in that timeframe.
Both FCA and Foxconn believe that such cooperation will leverage their performance by combining their strengths in automobile design, engineering, manufacturing and mobile software technology in the context of the BEV market. A couple of months ago, we reported that Foxconn won't build complete EVs but will focus on software-hardware integration instead. Logically, FCA will be the car manufacturing expert if any future agreement is reached.
