Lexus LF-30 Electrified Concept will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in MarchAfter making a formal Europe announcement of the Lexus LF-30 Electrified Concept and the Lexus UX300e a month ago, Toyota announced that it will showcase the Lexus LF-30 Electrified Concept at the Geneva Motor Show.

Lexus LF-30 Electrified Concept specifications and features

The new Lexus LF-30 Electrified Concept was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show last year but today the brand provides some more details about its specifications and features. It embodies the company's vision of electrification. Packed in a futuristic exterior, the battery-electric vehicle enables automated driving and integrates a number of new technologies. The vehicle has a 110 kWh battery with up to 150 kW DC charging support, offers total system power of 400 kW and 700 Nm torque. Its top speed is 200 km/h and the acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h is 3.8 s. The WLTP range is said to be 500 km. The vehicle is 5090 mm long, 1995 mm wide, 1600 mm high and has a wheelbase that's 3200 mm long. The weight is set at 2400 kg.

As a battery-electric vehicle, the concept study does not need a bonnet: the elegantly flowing front merges into a sharp rear. The large window front, which extends from front to back, the muscular fenders and the wing-shaped headlights replicate the contours of the brand-typical Lexus diabolo grille. In addition to the headlights, the striking taillights and side air intakes ensure excellent aerodynamics and cooling performance - design and function merge. The light transmission of the side windows can be adjusted as required, so that the occupants can enjoy an unobstructed view of the surrounding landscape or a high degree of privacy. There is also a glass roof over the rear seats, called SkyGate. It is operated with voice and gestures. With the help of augmented reality, it shows various information such as navigation instructions, users' favorite videos and even a starry sky.

The Tazuna cockpit concept is used for the first time in the LF-30 Electrified and features perfectly coordinated steering wheel control buttons and head-up display, gesture control and augmented reality (AR). This creates an interior that offers drivers and passengers a new level of comfort and convenience. The interior conveys a feeling of openness and security. All switches and controls are easily accessible, and a large screen with gesture control increases the comfort for the front passenger. The rear seats adapt to the passengers thanks to a special technology, various modes either support lying down and relaxing or promote attention. A Mark Levinson audio system ensures unique sound enjoyment with speakers integrated into the headrests. The interior features more sustainable materials such as yakisugi (charred cedar) - a traditional Japanese material used in the floor and in the steering control, while recycled metal has been processed into fibers for the door trim.

The Lexus LF-30 Electrified Concept is equipped with four electric wheel hub motors - one on each of the four wheels. Together with the low-positioned high-voltage battery they provide better handling and high driving performance. Automated driving and drone technology contribute to the unique driving experience. One of the new technologies which will trickle down to future production Lexus electrified vehicles is the "Advanced Posture Control" technology. It regulates the drive power of electric motors with high torque. The front and rear wheel hub motors are controlled completely independently of one another and the system can switch from front, rear to all-wheel drive depending on the situation. In addition, it adds to creating a compact and light drive system.

The Lexus LF-30 Electrified Concept comes with a steer-by-wire system: the elimination of the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels enables more flexible control depending on the driving situation and a more precise steering feel. At the same time, this technology increases the freedom: in the autonomous driving mode, the steering wheel can be hidden away. The vehicle incorporates various AI techs for optimizing energy distribution, for recognizing and distinguishing occupant's voices, adjusting the interior to individual preferences, air temperature and audio volume, recognizing the preferred driving style and adjusting the chassis and drive to the desired scenario in real-time.

The vehicle also arrives with Lexus's latest technology concept for autonomous driving, the study includes state-of-the-art functions such as "Chauffeur" and "Guardian mode". All passengers enjoy maximum comfort when driving autonomously and can relax while Advanced Posture Control is active. Fully autonomous parking is just as much a special service feature as the pick-up function: the LF-30 Electrified drives autonomously to the front door for passengers to get in.
