Toyota has unveiled the all‑new Urban Cruiser, a B‑segment battery electric SUV that combines a dedicated BEV platform, two battery options, and a suite of safety and connectivity features aimed at urban and light off-road drivers.

The Urban Cruiser marks Toyota's latest push to fill every key segment of the European electric SUV market, arriving as a compact but genuinely SUV‑oriented model built on a new dedicated BEV architecture designed to prioritise interior space and driving range. Toyota offers the Urban Cruiser with two lithium‑iron phosphate battery options - 49 kWh and 61 kWh - and three drivetrain choices: FWD with 49 kWh, FWD with 61 kWh, and AWD with 61 kWh. The company quotes WLTP combined ranges of up to 344 km for the 49 kWh FWD, up to 426 km for the 61 kWh FWD, and up to 395 km for the 61 kWh AWD.

Underpinning the car is a structural battery pack that sits beneath the floor to lower the centre of gravity and free cabin space, giving the Urban Cruiser a 2700 mm wheelbase that Toyota says enables a roomy interior and flexible load arrangements, including a sliding and split‑folding rear seat system and up to 566 litres of maximum luggage capacity with seats folded. Performance figures underline Toyota's intent to blend everyday usability with SUV capability. The 49 kWh FWD model produces 106 kW (144 DIN hp) and 193 Nm, the 61 kWh FWD 128 kW (174 DIN hp) and 193 Nm, while the 61 kWh AWD system raises output to 135 kW (184 DIN hp) and 307 Nm, with 0–100 km/h times ranging from 9.6 to 7.4 seconds depending on configuration. Charging and battery care are central to Toyota's proposition. DC fast charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in around 45 minutes, while AC charging times are approximately six hours on 11 kW three‑phase and about 9.5 hours on single‑phase 7 kW. Toyota pairs these capabilities with a Battery Care Programme that guarantees at least 70% of original capacity for up to 10 years or 1,000,000 km, subject to annual health checks.

The Urban Cruiser's cabin emphasises digital convenience and connectivity with an integrated 10.25‑inch combimeter and a 10.1‑inch multimedia touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, front and rear USB ports, and remote vehicle control via the MyToyota app for charging scheduling and pre‑conditioning.
