Opel Manta returns as an electric vehicle

15 March 2021, 09:59:26

Opel Manta returns as an electric vehicleOpel has teased another exciting e-project: the Opel Manta GSe ElektroMOD is a reminiscence of the legendary Opel Manta from 1970. At the same time, the car reflects the fascination of a growing fan base that transforms classics like the Manta into so-called RestoMods with modern technologies and a new design. The purely battery-electric Manta GSe ElektroMOD with its fully digital cockpit is sporty like a real Opel GSe and proudly carries its ambitions in its name. MOD stands for change, for technical as well as stylistic MODifications as well as for a MODernen sustainable lifestyle. The German spelling "Elektro" is also reminiscent of the Opel Elektro GT, which set world records for electric vehicles 50 years ago.

Now the Opel Manta is becoming virtually immortal with the new, fully everyday electric drive - independent of spare parts for the engine and transmission as well as the threat of driving bans for older incinerators. The transformation into the ElektroMOD also shows how timeless the 1970 line is. What was already sculptural and no-frills half a century ago still fits perfectly with Opel's design philosophy. The Opel Manta GSe ElektroMOD stands boldly and clearly and confidently starts into a new future: electric, emission-free - full of emotions.

The beautiful 1970s Manta has recently inspired the design of the new Opel brand face - this is also the case with the Manta GSe ElektroMOD. The so-called Opel-Vizor seamlessly combines the vehicle grille, the headlights and sensors as well as the brand logo in one element. The Vizor thus becomes the trademark of all future Opel models - the latest newcomers Opel Crossland and Opel Mokka are already proudly carrying it in series production.

The Manta GSe ElektroMOD consistently follows the Opel path towards the electrification of the brand - for passenger cars as well as for light commercial vehicles. By 2024, every series from the German manufacturer will be electrified. The customer already has the choice between plug-in hybrids such as the Grandland X and purely battery-electric currents. Already today there is a wide range of products from small cars Opel Corsa-e to the large-capacity sedan Opel Zafira-e Life as well as from the high-roof van Opel Combo-e to the Van Opel Vivaro-e.
