Mercedes‑Benz unveils the first all‑electric C‑Class: a new benchmark for the mid‑size segmentMercedes‑Benz has officially introduced the first all‑electric C‑Class, a model the company describes as "the sportiest C‑Class ever with unmatched agility and long‑distance comfort." The new saloon marks a pivotal moment for one of the brand's most successful nameplates, bringing the C‑Class into the electric era with a blend of performance, refinement, and digital intelligence that aims to redefine expectations in the mid‑size premium segment. The electric C‑Class stays true to the model's long‑standing values of elegance, comfort, and sportiness, while elevating each through a purpose‑built EV architecture.

Visually, the electric C‑Class stands apart with a low, sleek front end, a taut roofline, and a flowing fastback rear that gives the car a coupé‑like stance. The new illuminated grille, featuring a smoked glass panel and 1050 light dots, introduces a fresh signature for the brand that animates when the vehicle is unlocked, locked, or charging. At the rear, four round star‑design taillights and muscular shoulders create a distinctive identity. Aerodynamics play a crucial role, with a drag coefficient as low as 0.22, achieved through a smooth underbody, optimised wheels, and carefully sculpted surfaces.

Mercedes positions the cabin as a "Welcome home" environment, emphasising craftsmanship, comfort, and sensory immersion. The new MBUX Hyperscreen, stretching 39.1 inches across the dashboard, transforms the interior into a digital lounge. Materials include refined leathers, open‑pore woods, and a new "Twisted Diamond" Nappa leather pattern. A fully vegan interior is available and certified by The Vegan Society, making the C‑Class the brand’s second model to offer this option. The optional SKY CONTROL panoramic roof introduces a dramatic visual flourish: 162 illuminated stars embedded in the glass, glowing in sync with the ambient lighting.

A new multi‑source heat pump allows the cabin to warm up twice as fast as combustion‑engine models in winter while using roughly half the energy. Extensive sound insulation, laminated glass, and redesigned electric motors contribute to an exceptionally quiet interior. The ENERGIZING COMFORT suite returns with enhanced massage, lighting, and sound‑based wellness programs, turning commutes and charging stops into restorative breaks.

The electric Mercedes-Benz C‑Class debuts a new permanently excited synchronous motor paired with an innovative two‑speed transmission. First gear delivers strong low‑speed acceleration and towing capability, while second gear optimises efficiency at motorway speeds. Battery‑to‑wheel efficiency reaches 93%.

The flagship Mercedes-Benz C 400 4MATIC electric produces 360 kW and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. With a WLTP range of up to 762 kilometres, it becomes one of the longest‑range EVs in its class. Thanks to 800‑volt architecture and a 94‑kWh battery, up to 325 kilometres can be added in just 10 minutes at high‑power DC stations.

Optional AIRMATIC air suspension and 4.5‑degree rear‑axle steering deliver both S‑Class‑level comfort and sharp agility. Predictive damping uses Car‑to‑X data and Google Maps information to prepare the suspension for upcoming road conditions.

The electric C‑Class is the first in the lineup to run the new Mercedes‑Benz Operating System (MB.OS), enabling fast over‑the‑air updates and advanced AI‑powered features. The MBUX Virtual Assistant uses a multi‑agent AI system combining ChatGPT‑4o, Bing and Google Gemini to conduct natural conversations and remember context.

Navigation is powered by Google Maps, enhanced with Mercedes‑Benz’s Electric Intelligence, which plans routes based on energy use, terrain, weather and charging availability. An augmented‑reality head‑up display projects guidance and hazard information into the driver’s field of view.

Up to 27 cameras and sensors feed the MB.DRIVE assistance suite, which supports steering, braking, lane changes and parking. New features include PRE‑SAFE Curve, which tightens the seat belt if the vehicle approaches a bend too quickly, and a reversing assistant that can automatically retrace part of the route. DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps with micro‑LED technology offer a 40 percent larger illumination field while consuming up to 50 percent less energy.

The all‑electric C‑Class will debut first in the United States, with additional markets to follow depending on regulatory conditions.
