First sketches of the Polestar 3, will be based on Volvo's SPA platformThe Polestar 1 is being built as a small series vehicle in the recently inaugurated Polestar plant in Chengdu, China. The Polestar 2 rolls off the line with the Volvo XC 40 and Lynk & Co 01 at the Volvo Car Group's Luqiao multi-brand factory. And now Volvo's brand for electric vehicles is ready with the sketches for the Polestar 3. Published for the first time by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, they unveil that the upcoming vehicle is in the segment of BMW X4. Unlike the previous models, it will be based on the larger, advanced SPA platform of the Volvo XC 90, which is also suitable for pure electric vehicles. Its launch is planned for 2021.

Polestar's CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, said that the upcoming vehicle will combine technology, usability and aesthetics very much like Apple did with the iPhones it won't be simply "technology for the sake of technology". "This is something I have missed in the automotive industry and what I really want to do differently with the Polestar brand." At the Google I/O Developer Conference in May this year, Ingenlath presented the Polestar 2 along with its next-generation infotainment system.

In addition, according to Ingenlath, unlike Tesla, Polestar will quickly become profitable through shared development platforms and production facilities of the Geely Group. Source
