The Honda e debuts at the IAA 2019, costs €29,470 / £26,160The final production version of the Honda e that's mainly Europe- and Japan-bound has been unveiled at the IAA 2019 in Frankfurt. Prices for Honda e will start from €29,470 in Germany (including local government subsidy) for the 100kW version (£26,160 in the UK), rising to €32,470 for the "Advance" grade that includes further specification and a motor output increased to 113 kW. Other than that, the design and specs have already been announced earlier, so here they are again.

Honda e design details

From previous teasers released by Honda, we already know that the Honda e design focus is on minimalism that reflects and complements the modern lifestyles of urban residents. The overall shape is clean with smooth styling contours. The vehicle features pop-out door handles and a Side Camera Mirror System that replaces conventional side-view mirrors with compact cameras, providing live images to two 6-inch screens inside the vehicle. The interior style is modern and relaxed. The cabin is adorned with a five-screen full-width digital dashboard and connected infotainment system. The largest part of it is occupied by dual 12.3-inch LCD touchscreens for infotainment. Thus both the driver and front-seat passenger can have access to data and media whenever needed.

Honda e technical specifications

The Honda e packs a 35.5 kWh battery that is good for a range of up to 220 km. For a car that's created especially for the urban commuter in Europe, that's more than satisfying. A 30 minute DC fast charging regains 80% of the battery's charge. In terms of power, the model has two variants - one with a 100 kW (136 ps) electric motor and another with a 113 kW (154 ps) motor, each with a torque of 315 Nm. Either way, the motor is placed on the rear axle. The car has a 0-100km/h acceleration of approximately 8 seconds.

Honda e connected services and artificial intelligence

Honda e's connected services and applications can be managed via the touchscreens and by voice using the Honda Personal Assistant service. Based on artificial intelligence (AI), it uses unique contextual understanding to create natural conversations and provide access to a range of online services. The assistant is activated by saying, "OK Honda". Backed by machine learning, it gets better and smarter every day following each use.

The My Honda+ smartphone application allows Honda e owners to stay connected with their own car even if they are away from it. The app has been updated with a wider range of functions, including easy navigation to a detailed vehicle condition report, remote climate control, and security and location monitoring, battery charge control, range monitor, etc. You can also lock and unlock the car using the app as the Honda e is also accessible with a digital key.

Those who have already placed a reservation for Honda e will be invited to contact their local dealer to secure an order, and a place as one of the first customers to receive the car. Order books for Honda e will be open in selected markets from September. Customers in UK, Germany, France and Norway are set to receive first deliveries from summer 2020. Source
