The Lexus Electrified Sport Concept is presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
27 June 2022, 07:46:47
The Lexus Electrified Sport Concept was presented to the European public for the first time at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. The study provides an outlook on a future all-electric high-performance sports car by Lexus.
The outlines of the sports coupé are reminiscent of the legendary Lexus LFA. However, unlike the handmade super sports car with the powerful naturally aspirated V10 engine, the concept car heralds a new era in which the electric drive goes hand in hand with design freedom, impressive power delivery, and excellent handling. A production model could probably accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in the low two-second range, while the possible use of a new solid-state battery could enable ranges of more than 700 km.
While the Lexus Electrified Sport Concept looks to the future, the festival on Electric Avenue also shows Lexus EVs of the present. The Lexus RZ 450e, which will be launched later in the year, is the premium brand's first electric vehicle developed from scratch. Its new platform, specially designed for electric drive, combines high body rigidity with a low center of gravity – features that ensure maximum driving comfort, excellent control, and maximum safety in line with the Lexus Driving Signature. The long-wheelbase results in a spacious interior. The high-performance lithium-ion battery integrated into the cabin floor also contributes to this in a space-saving manner.
With the Lexus UX 300e, there has also been an all-electric offshoot of the compact bestseller since 2020: The pioneer of the Lexus Electrified strategy combines the locally emission-free, 150 kW/204 hp drive with the Takumi craftsmanship, quality, and sophistication typical of the brand. The lithium-ion battery housed in the vehicle floor keeps the center of gravity low and offers a range of up to 315 kilometres (in the combined WLTP cycle).
