The all-electric Ford Capri is unveiled in Europe

10 July 2024, 16:42:27

The all-electric Ford Capri is unveiled in EuropeFord has extended its EV offering again, bringing back a fan favorite - the Ford Capri. A classic sports coupe loved by families across Europe has been reborn for an electric generation, with a new look, still in keeping with its iconic design features, but now with a modern purpose. Ford has partnered with French football legend Eric Cantona to lead the reveal of the new Capri, seen fronting the company's launch of the car, as well as featuring throughout its campaign.

The all-electric Capri has been designed to be rebellious, with a color palette to match and the swagger you would expect from an original Capri of old. The new EV design contains cues inspired by its predecessor, from the style of the headlights to the body shape and rear appearance. The iconic four headlamps return with cutting-edge Dynamic Matrix LED and Glare-Free Highbeam technology, connected by an ultra-modern interpretation of the slim, coast-to-coast "grille". The swooping coupe roofline flows into a sculptured rear with signature four-piece taillamps. Bold machined metal alloy wheels complement the coupe in 19-, 20- and 21-inch designs. The Capri arrives with a striking colour palette featuring exclusive Vivid Yellow, with wheel arch and lower body trim finished in premium high gloss.

The model arrives in two trims - Ford Capri and Ford Capri Premium. The vanilla model has 19" alloy wheels, a 17-liter MegaConsole center storage, an adjustable 14.6-inch SYNC Move center screen with My Private Locker, massage driver sear, heated steering wheel and front sears, wireless smartphone integration, Clear Exit Warning, IACC with Stop and Go, rear-view camera. The Premium offers everything the Capri does adding 20" alloy wheels, ambient lighting, Bang & Olufsen sound system, hands-free tailgate.

There are two powertrain options as well. The first is a 210 kW (286 PS) rear-wheel drive version with 627 km of range and a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 6.4 seconds. It is powered by a 77 kWh Li-Ion NMC battery supporting 135W DC charging and 11W AC charging. The second is a 250 kW (340 PS) all-wheel drive version with 592 km of driving range and a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 5.3 sec. It is powered by a 79 kWh Li-Ion NMC battery with 155W DC charging and 11W AC charging support. The top speed in both cases is limited to 180 km/h.

Beyond the design, this EV aims to bring the heritage of the Capri into the future with an array of technologies that will enhance the customer experience. Intelligent technologies such as automated lane changes and watching out for cyclists when opening doors mean the Capri can help keep you safe on the open road and within the city. Meanwhile, a massaging driver's seat comes as standard along with a sliding touch screen, making the all-electric Ford Capri an EV designed to celebrate the past while reinventing the future.
