Honda Super-ONE Prototype Compact EV debuts at the Japan Mobility Show 2025

Honda Super-ONE Prototype Compact EV debuts at the Japan Mobility Show 2025Honda unveiled the Super-ONE Prototype at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, pitching the compact electric vehicle as a sporty, emotionally engaging alternative to typical city EVs. The prototype combines performance-focused design with sensory features intended to make routine drives feel more alive and enjoyable for drivers and passengers alike.

At the heart of the Super-ONE concept is "e: Dash BOOSTER," Honda's vision for an EV that delivers heightened driver engagement. The prototype emphasizes tactile feedback, visual drama, and purposeful sound, using software and mechanical design to recreate some of the emotional highs traditionally associated with gasoline-powered sports cars.

A headline-grabbing element is Boost Mode, a special driving setting that elevates power delivery and simulates a multi-gear feel. Boost Mode pairs increased acceleration with a simulated 7-speed shift sensation and engineered engine sounds through Active Sound Control, allowing the Super-ONE to offer an adrenaline-rich response while remaining fully electric.

Honda says the Super-ONE Prototype was tested extensively across varied environments, including roads in Japan, the UK, and multiple Asian countries, to validate handling, comfort, and reliability under different climates and driving conditions. The car also demonstrated its capabilities at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it tackled the famous hill climb to public acclaim.

The production version is slated to arrive in Japan in 2026, with additional launches planned for the UK and several Asian markets. Honda will use different nameplates by region, including Super-ONE, Honda Super-ONE, and Super-N, reflecting regional branding strategies and market positioning.

Visually, the prototype presents a bold, athletic profile with wide housing, pronounced fenders, and functional air ducts that hint at performance intent. The low, planted stance and wide-track proportions are designed to improve stability and convey motion even when parked. Inside, the cabin is driver-centric, featuring sculpted sport seats, asymmetric blue accents, and a streamlined horizontal dash that prioritizes sightlines and a focused driving posture.

With the Super-ONE Prototype, Honda aims to expand what buyers expect from a compact EV, blending practical electric mobility with an intentionally crafted emotional experience centered on fun, responsiveness, and distinctive design.
