LG Chem has purchased a Turkish plant in Poland for EV batteries productionLG Chem has announced that it has purchased a plant in Poland that belonged to the Turkish TV brand Vestel. The deal for acquiring the television assembly factory was for US$31.4 million and the site will be restructured for EV batteries production. It is near the already existing LG Chem plant for EV batteries in Wroclaw, Poland. The factory covers an area of 223,000 square meters and is expected to create synergy with existing production facilities in the same industrial complex as LG Chem's first Poland plant. The deal was signed off last month.

In addition to those two plants in Poland, LG Chem has four other EV batteries manufacturing sites - in South Korea, China, and the United States with a combined capacity of 70 gigawatt-hours from all plants currently in operation. The company aims to increase its output to 100 GWh by the end of the year. This should be enough for 1.6 million electric vehicles. Currently, LG Chem supplies batteries to 13 out of 20 from the top auto brands including Volkswagen, Renault, General Motors, Hyundai, Jaguar, Audi, etc.
