Acura RSX Prototype debuts with ASIMO OS and Honda's new EV platform

Acura rolled into the Japan Mobility Show 2025 with the Japan premiere of the Acura RSX Prototype, a sleek, next-generation EV that signals the premium brand's renewed push into electric performance and design-forward SUVs.

Built on Honda's first independently developed next-generation EV platform, the RSX Prototype is the most concrete preview yet of Acura’s future direction, pairing a bespoke electric architecture with software that promises to change how drivers interact with their cars. The prototype also debuts ASIMO OS, Honda’s in-house vehicle operating system designed to learn each owner's preferences and driving habits, enabling what the company calls "ultra-personal optimization" of the mobility experience; Acura says this mix of hardware and adaptive software will help the RSX tailor driving dynamics, comfort settings, and in-car features to individual customers. The model is positioned for U.S. production at Honda’s Marysville EV Hub in Ohio and is targeted for release in the second half of 2026, underscoring Acura’s intent to make this a home-market priority as well as a global offering.
