Volvo EX60 turns range anxiety into everyday confidence and sets new standards for safetyVolvo Cars has unveiled the EX60, an all‑electric mid‑size SUV the company says will redefine the largest segment in the electric vehicle market by combining class‑leading range, rapid charging, strong performance and competitive pricing. The five‑seat EX60 is presented as a family‑friendly model that removes the last barriers to electrification, expands Volvo’s addressable market, and aims to convert range anxiety into everyday confidence. The model is available in three trims:

Volvo EX60 P6 Electric (RWD)

The P6 is the entry specification, offering rear‑wheel drive, a nominal 83 kWh battery, and up to 385.3 miles of combined WLTP range (23.7 kWh/100 mi). It produces 275 kW (374 hp) and 480 Nm, reaching 0–62 mph in 5.9 s. Charging from 10–80% takes 18 minutes on a 300 kW DC charger, and the model supports a maximum trailer weight of 2,000 kg.

Volvo EX60 P10 AWD Electric

The P10 adds all‑wheel drive and a larger 95 kWh battery, increasing combined range to up to 410.1 miles (25.3 kWh/100mi). Output rises to 375 kW (510 hp) and 710 Nm, cutting the 0–62 mph time to 4.6 s. It tows up to 2,400 kg and charges from 10–80% in 18 minutes on a 400 kW DC supply.

Volvo EX60 P12 AWD Electric

The P12 is the flagship specification, equipped with a 117 kWh battery and delivering the longest range at up to 503.3 miles combined (25.7 kWh/100mi). Power climbs to 500 kW (680 hp) with 790 Nm of torque, enabling a 3.9 s 0–62 mph sprint. It maintains the 2,400 kg towing capacity and completes 10–80% charging in 19 minutes on a 400 kW DC charger.

Built on Volvo's new SPA3 electric architecture and powered by the in‑house HuginCore system, the EX60 introduces manufacturing and engineering advances such as mega casting, cell‑to‑body construction and next‑generation e‑motors. These innovations are credited with improving energy efficiency, reducing weight and lowering the model’s carbon footprint to match that of Volvo’s smaller EX30, according to the company.

The EX60 extends Volvo's Scandinavian design language into an electric era with a low front, sloping roofline and tapered sides that yield a competitive drag coefficient of 0.26. A long wheelbase and flat floor increase rear legroom and create a large luggage area, while natural, high‑end materials and smart storage solutions aim to deliver a calm, versatile cabin for families.

Described as Volvo's most intelligent car to date, the EX60 runs the latest iteration of HuginCore and combines in‑house software with partnerships including Google, NVIDIA and Qualcomm. It is the first Volvo to launch with Google's Gemini AI assistant deeply integrated into the vehicle, enabling natural, conversational interactions without memorising specific commands. Volvo says the infotainment experience is the most responsive it has offered, with fast screen response, instant map loading and improved voice recognition.

Volvo has equipped the EX60 with a premium 28‑speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system that, for the first time in a Volvo, includes headrest speakers in all four main seats. The car will also be the first Volvo to ship with Apple Music pre‑installed with Dolby Atmos for an immersive Spatial Audio experience.

Safety remains central to the EX60’s proposition. The car features Volvo’s multi‑adaptive safety belt, a world‑first system designed to personalise protection in the front seats, and a strengthened safety cage built with boron steel. HuginCore continuously assesses the vehicle’s surroundings through an array of sensors, and Volvo emphasises that the EX60 will improve over time via regular over‑the‑air updates.

Production of the EX60 is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026 at Volvo's historic home base in Gothenburg. The company emphasises that the vehicle is designed not only as a new model but as a platform for continuous evolution - safer, smarter, and increasingly connected over time through software updates and digital enhancements.

Orders for the EX60 are open in European markets now, with production starting this spring at Volvo Cars’ factory in Sweden. Customer deliveries of the P6 and P10 variants are scheduled to begin this summer, followed by the P12, and the model will reach the US market in late spring. Volvo frames the EX60 as a new beginning for the brand and a decisive step in its transition to a fully electric lineup.
