The smart Concept #1 is unveiled at IAA Mobility 2021

Add as a preferred source on Google At IAA Mobility 2021, Mercedes-Benz presented the first concept vehicle from the new-generation, all-electric smart models - the smart Concept #1.

The smart Concept #1 is an urban SUV on a purpose-built BEV architecture. This allows an extremely compact exterior with short overhangs and very generous interior space. In addition, Mercedes-Benz Design has applied a very puristic approach to arrive at the new iconic look. This concept car redefines space, light and sound and provides a clear insight into the production version to come. With this car, smart will expand its offering into the small- and compact car segment.

The designers blended light and form to create strong sculptural volumes that touch the heart. Another design detail that is a signature element of the new premium smart is the floating halo roof above the smooth glass-bowl greenhouse. The vehicle also demonstrates the progressive front and rear LED lights, with a full-widht LED light band. The effect is that of dissolving into geometric forms that look like fireworks.

The door handles are also flush with the surface and illuminated. They pair with the new digital key, which you can share remotely with friends and family via the smart app. This really convenient feature will become standard on every smart. The frameless doors open to reveal – a further highlight of the Concept #1 - its spacious and elegant interior. The lighting elements on the floor and headliner can change color and respond to the music on the Beats sound system. The dashboard loop draws the eye to the 12.8-inch screen, which is the center of the user interface and digital experience. This concept provides an insight into the premium, high-tech comfort of the next-generation smart.

The platform features an extremely competitive WLTP-range of approximately 430 km plus highly advanced driver assistance systems. To achieve this, the Concept #1 is defined by its underlying software. The UI/UX uses color, animation and even an A.I. avatar to interact with you - enhancing communication and making it far more natural.
