Audi e-tron GT will make its world debut on February 9

Audi e-tron GT will make its world debut on February 9The Audi e-tron GT will debut on February 9 at 1PM ET (8 PM UTC+02). The premier will be livestreamed on Facebook. There will actually be two livestreams - "Celebration of Progress" - livestream at 7pm CET (1PM Eastern) and "Sprint of Progress" - livestream at 1PM CET.

In October 2020, the Audi e-tron GT entered production at the Audi Böllinger Höfe at the Neckarsulm site of the brand with the four rings. roduction of the e-tron GT was designed without physical prototypes - a first at Audi. The entire production process at the site is also net carbon-neutral. In early 2020, the entire Neckarsulm site began using exclusively eco-electricity. A combined heat-and-power plant fired with biogas provides the heat required for production at the Bölllinger Höfe. Audi uses carbon credits from certified climate protection projects to offset emissions that currently cannot be avoided using renewable sources of energy. Audi is taking a consistent approach and considering the entire value chain. Logistics is thus just as important as vehicle production itself. All of the rail traffic at the Neckarsulm site is climate neutral. Important resources are also being conserved and raw materials recycled at the site, too. The aim of the recycling project is to create a perfect polymer closed loop.

Large areas of the body of the all-electric Gran Turismo are constructed from ultra-high-strength steel and aluminum. To produce this material mix in the planned quantities, a body shop was established with an innovative body assembly line along which each body passes twice. It is constructed around what is called the two-way framer, in which ten robots are used to attach the inner and outer side panels. It combines all manufacturing steps involved in joining the sides in a single system.

The inline measuring procedure for the bodies is also new. It guarantees even greater accuracy and can respond very quickly to minute deviations. The expanded assembly line includes 36 instead of the previous 16 cycles. At the end of the body assembly line is where precise craftsmanship comes into play: experienced workers fit the add-on parts and check the finish of the completed body.
