FAW VW and SAIC VW unveiled in China the ID.6 CROZZ and ID.6 X, respectivelyFAW VW and SAIC VW have unveiled the first ID. model exclusive to China - the ID.6 CROZZ (FAW VW) and ID.6 X (SAIC VW). This is a large 6- or 7-seater with a smart and roomy interior and plenty of state-of-the-art technologies above its class.

The exterior of the ID.6 is modern and elegant, with a strong powerful design thanks to the gentle, soft transitions that alternate with the sharp, clear separating edges. To improve better range and efficiency, the design of the ID.6 has been aerodynamically optimized to reduce drag (Cd 0.28), with a sleek roofline that flows down at the back to join the large spoiler on the rear window. With light being the new chrome, the illuminated logos at the front and rear make the ID.6 unmistakable on the roads of China. The exterior lighting is further enhanced by the light signature that welcomes and says goodbye, and the ambient lighting integrated into the flush door handles. The MEB platform allows for a roomy interior, with short overhangs and a long wheelbase of 2,965 mm affording 3 rows of seats in a flexible 6- or 7-seat layout for a roomy family car. The floating dashboard and the 2.1 m panoramic glass roof add to the feeling of spaciousness.

The human-machine-interface (HMI) of the ID.6 ensures a more intuitive drive, which sees the ID.6 packed with cool technology, such as touch control – including for the interior lighting and sunroof – and voice control for a more interactive experience. Smart features include the ID. Light, which communicates visually, for example, by accentuating information issued by the driver assist or navigation systems, or by indicating incoming calls. The augmented reality head-up display (AR HUD) blends driving and traffic information with reality, and virtually projects instructions and animations onto the road ahead, meaning that you will never miss a turning again! For an even more relaxing and safe drive, the ID.6 is equipped with IQ.DRIVE, which includes the latest generation Travel Assist. All these features are supported by Volkswagen’s new E3 electronics architecture, which is ready for over-the-air (OTA) updates that will be available to customers in China by year end.

As a true Volkswagen, the ID.6 has been tested in all environments, with over 800 test vehicles covering more than 6 million kilometers on the roads of China and the world, to ensure the quality, reliability, safety and durability the brand is known for. The body is made of 94% high-strength steel. The battery itself has undergone 338 brand standard battery safety verifications and has a 360-degree battery armor with an IPV X9k waterproof level.

With two battery options available in the ID.6, the largest 84.8 KWh battery offers a real-life emission-free range of over 580 kilometers (NEDC), for worry-free driving. It has an energy density of 175 wh/kg. Flexible charging options mean the ID.6 can be charged via 7kW AC charging or high-speed DC charging up to 100 kW, while the electric drivetrain provides a smooth and quiet drive, which is further enhanced by special acoustic glass and perfect body and floor insulation.

Volkswagen aims to become the number one choice for NEVs among Chinese car buyers – as it already is for the overall passenger car market – and is pushing ahead relentlessly with its e-offensive under its Move Forward brand initiative. The ID.6 will launch during the summer, following in quick succession to the ID.4, which had its China premiere less than six months ago and launched in the market to positive reviews at the end of March. As with the ID.6, the ID.4 comes in two versions to meet the differing needs of the world’s largest auto market. A fifth member of the ID. family will already enter the market in the second half of this year. By 2023, Volkswagen will have a total of 8 ID. family members in China, as the brand transforms to a future that is electric, fully-connected and carbon neutral.
