BYD Atto 3 EVO launches in Europe with improved battery, electric drive, and range
11 February 2026, 17:28:34
BYD has introduced the Atto 3 EVO to the European market, positioning the new model as a major technological leap over the standard Atto 3 and a showcase for the company's latest 800‑volt e‑Platform 3.0. The electric SUV arrives with a WLTP combined range of up to 510 km, rapid 220 kW DC charging, and a dramatic performance boost that places it among the quickest compact electric SUVs available.
The Atto 3 EVO features a redesigned exterior with wider-beam headlights, dynamic steering lights, and a sleeker aerodynamic profile. Inside, BYD continues its playful design language with a distinctive cabin that blends practicality and character. A rotating 15.6‑inch touchscreen, multi‑coloured ambient lighting, vegan‑leather sports seats with heating and ventilation, and a panoramic glass roof all contribute to a premium, tech-forward atmosphere. The flat rear floor, generous legroom, and heated rear seats enhance comfort for passengers, while storage solutions include a 101‑litre front trunk and a 490‑litre rear boot with hidden compartments.
Underneath, the Atto 3 EVO is powered by BYD's ultra‑safe Blade Battery and the world's first mass‑produced 8‑in‑1 electric powertrain. A standard high‑efficiency heat pump improves cold‑weather performance, and the vehicle supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with built‑in Google services and an AI voice assistant. Safety features include seven airbags, cell‑to‑body construction, a 360‑degree camera system, and a suite of 22 driver‑assistance technologies.
The model is offered in two trims: the Design RWD and the Excellence AWD, each targeting different customer needs.
The BYD Atto 3 EVO Design RWD variant is equipped with a single permanent‑magnet synchronous motor mounted at the rear, producing 230 kW and 380 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 180 km/h. Its WLTP combined range is rated at 510 km, with an impressive 710 km in city driving. Energy consumption stands at 16.4 kWh/100 km on the combined cycle. The model rides on 17‑inch wheels and maintains a curb weight of 1,880 kg. Despite being the lighter of the two trims, it retains the same 74.8 kWh Blade Battery, 800‑volt architecture, and 220 kW DC fast‑charging capability, enabling a 10–80% charge in just 25 minutes.
The BYD Atto 3 EVO Excellence AWD trim adds a second motor at the front, an asynchronous AC induction unit delivering an additional 100 kW and 180 Nm. Combined system output rises to 330 kW and 560 Nm, cutting the 0–100 km/h time to 3.9 seconds and increasing top speed to 200 km/h. The added performance comes with a modest reduction in range, with WLTP combined figures at 470 km and 630 km in city conditions. Energy consumption increases slightly to 17.8 kWh/100 km. The AWD model weighs 1,990 kg and upgrades to 18‑inch wheels. It also includes a head‑up display as standard, distinguishing it from the RWD version.
Both trims share identical dimensions, including a length of 4,455 mm, a width of 1,875 mm (2,060 mm with mirrors), a height of 1,615 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. They offer the same towing capacity of 1,500 kg braked and 750 kg unbraked, as well as identical suspension setups with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi‑link rear.
With the Atto 3 EVO, BYD aims to strengthen its foothold in Europe by offering a compact SUV that blends long‑range capability, rapid charging, advanced safety, and high performance. The Excellence AWD trim, in particular, positions the model as a compelling option for drivers seeking sports‑car‑level acceleration in a practical electric SUV. As BYD continues its rapid expansion across the continent, the Atto 3 EVO stands out as one of the company’s most technologically advanced and competitive offerings to date.
