Next-gen Xiaomi SU7 will get major upgrades
8 January 2026, 09:41:49
Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun hosted a live broadcast, unveiling the latest developments surrounding the company's fast‑growing automotive business and officially introducing the first facelift of the Xiaomi SU7. The update marks a significant milestone for Xiaomi's entry into the electric vehicle market, which has gained traction rapidly since its launch.
Lei Jun opened the broadcast by highlighting SU7's strong market performance. In just one year and nine months, Xiaomi has delivered more than 360,000 units, averaging over 17,000 vehicles per month. He thanked owners for their support, noting that the SU7 has become the best‑selling sedan priced above 200,000 yuan over the past year. According to Lei, the model's appeal continues to center on its design, ease of driving, technological integration, ecosystem connectivity, and safety -areas Xiaomi plans to keep improving through ongoing OTA updates and service enhancements.
The new‑generation Xiaomi SU7 represents the model’s first major facelift, developed with extensive feedback from existing owners. Lei emphasized that the refreshed version remains true to the SU7 identity as a driver‑focused vehicle, maintaining the sense of harmony between human and machine while refining nearly every detail.
Safety upgrades headline the new model. The vehicle now incorporates a 2200 MPa Xiaomi super‑strong steel embedded roll cage and comes standard with nine airbags, including two newly added rear side airbags. The battery pack gains additional protection through a 1500 MPa anti‑scratch crossbeam and a bulletproof coating on its underside.
Driver assistance capabilities have also been expanded. All variants now include LiDAR, 4D millimeter‑wave radar, 700 TOPS of computing power for assisted driving, and Xiaomi's end‑to‑end HAD system. Improvements to the chassis further enhance the driving experience, with every model upgraded to the Xiaomi Super Motor V6s Plus and equipped with front four‑piston calipers and wider rear tires. The Xiaomi SU7 Pro and Xiaomi SU7 Max versions add dual‑chamber air springs and CDC shock absorbers for greater ride comfort and control.
Range performance sees a significant boost as well. The SU7 Pro now achieves a maximum CLTC range of 902 kilometers, while the Xiaomi SU7 Max version can add up to 670 kilometers of charge in just 15 minutes when using Xiaomi's self‑operated fast‑charging infrastructure.
The facelift also introduces new aesthetic options, including a "Capri Blue" exterior color and redesigned 20‑inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin receives a comprehensive refresh featuring a Midnight Black theme, updated steering wheel and center console, improved seating comfort, and enhanced ambient lighting.
Pre‑sales for the new‑generation SU7 begin at 229,900 yuan, roughly 10,000 yuan higher than the previous model. Customers can secure a reservation with a refundable 1,000‑yuan deposit through the Xiaomi Auto app. Existing SU7 buyers with locked but undelivered orders may upgrade while retaining their original purchase tax benefits. Their vehicles will receive priority production scheduling, and upon delivery, they will receive a complimentary smart dual‑dial watch face valued at 699 yuan. Deliveries of the new model are expected to start in April 2026.
Lei Jun closed the broadcast by expressing strong confidence in the new‑generation SU7, positioning it as a major step forward in Xiaomi's automotive ambitions.
