Samsung SDI's Hungary gigafactory to produce 46210 batteries starting this year

The Elec reports that Samsung SDI plans to expand the production of batteries in its Goed, Hungary gigafactory and include the production of 46210 cells. According to the media sources, it is BMW who requested such cells from Samsung SDI. Meanwhile, BMW is building an EV factory in Debrecen, which is a 3-hour drive from Goed. The expansion will require an investment of 500 billion won for two production lines with an annual capacity of 10 GWh. Samsung SDI will also produce 4680 and 4695 cells here. Currently, there's a pilot line for the new cells in its Cheonan, South Korea factory. The company also plans manufacturing facilities for these cells in Malaysia as well.Source
