Genesis GV60 Magma debuts as the brand's first high-performance production modelGenesis is embarking on a bold new chapter in its journey, positioning “Luxury High Performance” as the cornerstone of its evolution over the next decade. This vision was unveiled at the Magma World Premiere, held at Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France, where the brand introduced the GV60 Magma—its first high‑performance production model. More than just a debut, the event marked Genesis’s official entry into the high‑performance arena, setting the stage for a future defined by innovation, elegance, and exhilarating driving experiences.

Unlike conventional approaches to performance that focus solely on horsepower or speed, Genesis defines Luxury High Performance as a philosophy that blends refined elegance with seamless, effortless power. It is an approach rooted in the brand’s “Athletic Elegance” design language, now extended into the high‑performance space. The emphasis lies on balanced dynamics, finely tuned control, and harmony between driver and machine, rather than sheer intensity. The GV60 Magma is the first production model to embody this philosophy, laying the foundation for the forthcoming Magma lineup.

The GV60 Magma builds upon the concept unveiled last year, transforming Genesis’s exploration of high‑performance innovation into reality. Previous showcases such as the GV80 Coupe Concept, the X Gran Berlinetta Concept, and the G80 Magma Special hinted at the brand’s ambitions. Now, those ambitions have crystallized in a production model that represents both the philosophy and technological vision that will guide Genesis’s future Magma vehicles. At its core, the Magma program is defined by three attributes: design, driving sensation, and user experience. Together, they create a dynamic yet elegant aesthetic, precise control of power and behavior, and an immersive, intuitive interface that enhances every moment behind the wheel.

Design serves as the most tangible expression of the Magma philosophy. The GV60 Magma conveys “subtle, untapped power” through proportions that are lower and wider than the standard GV60, resulting in a stable and confident stance. A redesigned bumper with a distinctive three‑hole structure improves airflow and cooling while establishing a unique visual identity. Black high‑gloss mouldings, dark metal accents, and streamlined canards contribute to a sleek, monochromatic palette. The side profile reinforces the car’s athletic presence with wide fenders, exclusive 21‑inch forged wheels, and 275‑millimetre tyres, while the lowered height and sculpted side skirts optimize aerodynamics. At the rear, a functional wing‑type spoiler generates downforce, and a newly designed bumper with black accents integrates seamlessly with a diffuser engineered for aerodynamic efficiency.

Inside, the GV60 Magma combines premium materials with a sporty atmosphere. Chamude, a suede‑like fabric, adorns the seats, door trim, and centre console, while orange and grey stitching, quilting, and seat belts establish a distinct Magma identity. Black high‑gloss and dark metal finishes on buttons and emblems reduce glare and reinforce the composed, elegant ambience. The steering wheel features exclusive Magma elements, including a unique rim design, a black emblem, and orange accents on the drive mode and boost buttons, further distinguishing the model’s character.

Performance lies at the heart of the GV60 Magma. Developed to deliver the highest level of driving control within Hyundai Motor Group, the car’s front and rear motors produce a combined maximum output of 448 kW (609 horsepower) and 740 Nm of torque. Activating Boost Mode raises output to 478 kW (650 horsepower) and torque to 790 Nm, enabling a top speed of 264 km/h. With Launch Control engaged, the GV60 Magma accelerates from a standstill to 200 km/h in just 10.9 seconds, while maintaining consistent power delivery at higher speeds. Three drive modes—Sprint, GT, and MY—allow drivers to tailor performance, with MY Mode offering customization of the electronic limited‑slip differential, stability control, and other parameters.

The suspension system has been recalibrated for precision, featuring Electronic Control Suspension and End‑of‑Travel control systems that balance cornering stability with ride comfort. Hydro G‑Bushings in the front and dual‑layer bushings in the rear minimize vibrations, while upgraded brakes with monoblock callipers and large‑diameter discs ensure stopping power matches the car’s performance. Despite its wide tyres, the GV60 Magma maintains cabin serenity through Active Noise Control, sound‑insulating glass, and reinforced sealing, preserving the luxury expected of the brand.

A dedicated digital interface enhances the immersive driving experience. Activating Magma Mode transforms the instrument cluster into a three‑circle layout, displaying vital data such as motor and battery temperatures, speed, and G‑force. The Head‑Up Display simplifies key information, while the infotainment system introduces exclusive features like the Virtual Gear Shift System, Drift Mode, and High‑Performance Battery Control. VGS replicates the shifting sensations of a high‑revving combustion engine, complete with sound design, while Drift Mode and HPBC optimize power distribution and battery performance for racing conditions. Together, these systems deliver an engaging, performance‑oriented experience that connects driver and machine on a deeper level.

The Magma program itself is the culmination of years of experimentation and innovation. At the World Premiere, Genesis showcased concept cars and prototypes such as the GV80 Coupe Concept, G80 Magma Special, X Gran Berlinetta Concept, and the GMR‑001 Hypercar, underscoring the program’s breadth and ambition. These models represent iterative steps in design, performance, and technological development, each contributing to the refinement of the GV60 Magma. The GV80 Coupe Concept introduced the striking Magma Orange identity, while the G80 Magma Special highlighted collaborative engineering with high‑performance partners. The GV60 Magma Concept’s victory at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed further validated the program’s potential, completing the course in just 52.72 seconds and heightening anticipation for its production debut.

Genesis plans to launch the GV60 Magma first in Korea, followed by Europe and North America in 2026. With this rollout, the brand will bring its Luxury High Performance philosophy to drivers worldwide, redefining expectations of what a high‑performance luxury vehicle can be in the electric era. The GV60 Magma is not only a car but a statement: a symbol of Genesis’s ambition to harmonize elegance, innovation, and thrilling performance as it embarks on its next decade.
