1 September 2023, 02:28:08
Last night Tesla introduced the new Model 3 - the first refresh of the car in six years. It will go on sale in October. Currently, the new Model 3 is listed on the European Tesla websites with a RWD Short Range version offering 554 km of range and a Dual Motor Long Range version with a range of 678 km. Whether there will be a Performance version is about to be seen. The price of the base version stays almost the same. Te price of the LR one is increased but the exact increase depends on the specific market.
Here are the changes. For starters, the vehicle has 50% of its parts changed and two new colors have been added - Stealth Gray and Ultra Red. The range has increased by 12%. Tesla has managed to lower the drag coefficient to 0.219 and the car is more efficient by 8%.
The suspension has been updated with new springs and dampers. The geometry of the front suspension and the way it mounts to the chassis are also changed. Acoustic glass has been added to the rear windows and more sound insulation is used. As a result, wind and ambient noise have been decreased by 30%, impact noise - by 25%, and road noise - by 20%.
On the inside - there's new LED ambient lighting and a new steering wheel plus a redesigned center console. In general, the materials have been improved. The front and rear seats are more comfortable with perforated upholstery and ventilation added to the front seats. The central display is brighter and more responsive. It has slimmer bezels and offers more screen estate. The rear row of seats gets a display as well (8" diagonal size) from where one can manage the climate control, ventilation, and infotainment.
The sound system now features 17 speakers instead of 14. Various other details have been improved - Bluetooth microphone, wi-fi connectivity, added USB Type-C with 65W power delivery, and others. The trunk capacity is increased by 33 liters to 594 l.
