CATL broke ground of its Beijing Times Battery Base factory

CATL has started building its first battery production facility in North China called. It is a joint investment between CATL, BAIC Group, Beijing Energy Group, Xiaomi Group, and others. The groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday. Currently, CATL has 11 factories in China and 7 of those are joint ventures with Chinese automakers. This new one will be the 12th in total and the 8th joint venture. Two other CATL factories are located in Europe - one in Erfurt Germany and another in Debrecen, Hungary.

The Beijing Times Battery Base project is designed according to the high standards of "Lighthouse Factory + Zero Carbon Factory" and adopts CATL's most advanced high-beat, high-automation, and high-flexibility production lines. After completion, it will provide stable mass-produced, high-quality battery products for Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei auto companies such as BAIC, Xiaomi, and Ideal, helping customers improve the competitiveness of new energy products. At the same time, CATL will also drive more upstream and downstream companies in the industry chain to settle in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, improve the overall competitiveness of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei new energy industry chain supply chain ecology, and help local economic development.
