Volkswagen and Ford announce a broad global alliance, will explore collaboration options on EVsToday Volkswagen and Ford have announced the formation of a strategic global alliance. Its most general purpose is to leverage the strengths of the two companies to better compete, innovate and serve customers. This alliance does not involve cross-ownership between the two companies. In more specific terms, it manages the collaboration on medium pickup trucks for global customers (deliveries expected to start in 2022) and commercial vans in Europe. This move is expected to deliver scale and efficiencies for each company starting in 2023. The more interesting part of this announcement is the mention that both companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to investigate collaboration on autonomous vehicles, mobility services and electric vehicles and have started to explore opportunities.Source
