Škoda CITIGO E-PILOT prototypes are tested in real life conditionsŠkoda will invest around 2 billion euros in the development of electric vehicles and new mobility services in the course of the next four years. This is a part of the company's 2025 strategy. The first all-electric models from the brand will hit the market this year. At first, Škoda Superb will be launched as a PHEV, followed by the all-electric Škoda CITIGO in Q4 of 2019.

The company has just announced that there are CITIGO E-PILOT prototypes available to selected customers and facilities in the Czech Republic. There are ten vehicles based on the electrified Volkswagen e-up! that are provided to selected companies, fleet customers and state authorities. The goal is to gain experience of everyday use before series production of the battery-electric version of the CITIGO begins.

Each vehicle is equipped with sensors that record important data such as traveled distances, the outside temperature and the temperature in the vehicle or the acceleration. All data is automatically sent to the Technical Development department at Škoda and evaluated there. In this way, it is possible to draw conclusions about the use of the vehicle, and it is also possible to determine how the battery is charged during everyday operation or during the charging process.

Luboš Vlček, head of Škoda Auto Czech Republic says: "Škola will start electric mobility in 2019 and will introduce ten electrified models by the end of 2022. However, before Škoda's electromobility goes into series production, we will be collecting valuable feedback from our customers in the coming months with our test fleet in our home market of the Czech Republic. As part of the Škoda CITIGO E-PILOT project, we are also testing numerous battery-electric vehicle services in order to be perfectly prepared for the launch of the production vehicle by the end of the year."Source
