All-new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross EV launched in Europe
23 September 2025, 11:31:38
Mitsubishi will begin a sequential launch of the all-new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross battery electric vehicle for the European market before the end of 2025. The model will be manufactured at Renault's ElectriCity Douai Plant. Built on the CMF-EV platform and designed exclusively as a BEV, it is supplied under an OEM agreement from the company's Alliance partner, the Renault Group. Additionally, a medium-range model that focuses on everyday usability is scheduled to be launched in 2026.
The Eclipse Cross is offered with two drive batteries to meet the diverse requirements of everyday life. A long-range version is available from market launch, a medium-haul version will follow in 2026. The long-haul battery with 87 kWh extends the range compared to the smaller version of over 600 km and offers optimum performance for longer journeys without compromising on charging times or energy efficiency. A water-cooled thermal management system contributes to the optimization of the battery temperature of the new Eclipse Cross and ensures reliable performance, longer service life and safe operation, which ultimately improves the entire driving experience and reliability of the vehicle. In addition, the new Eclipse Cross in all versions is equipped with a heat pump and a PTC heater to ensure first-class heating and cooling of the interior without unnecessarily stressing the drive battery.
Regenerative braking offers four selectable levels via paddle shifters positioned on the steering wheel. The new Eclipse Cross offers maximum flexibility: charging in mode 2 at the household socket or in mode 3 via a special charger and a type 2 socket – either as standard with 11 kW or optionally with a powerful 22 kW. This means that loading is always convenient, regardless of the infrastructure available. If the compact SUV is on the road, it can use the numerous public fast charging stations with up to 150 kW via the CCS socket.
With a maximum output of 160 kW and peak torque of 300 Nm for the long-range variant, this new model provides powerful torque the moment the accelerator is engaged. Thanks to the powertrain configuration, the all-electric compact SUV reaches a top speed of up to 170 km/h and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 8.4 seconds. Thanks to the arrangement of the powertrain and low center of gravity, the compact SUV benefits from improved stability and cornering performance, while precise steering and advanced suspension systems ensure gentle and controlled maneuverability, making driving both relaxed and safe.
The all-new Eclipse Cross is equipped with a vertical 12.3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA) system, offering the latest infotainment experience. The audio system features a Harman Kardon premium sound system with five selectable listening modes. In addition, four drive modes, Personal, Eco, Comfort, and Sport can be selected at will through the SDA, depending on the driver’s preferences and driving conditions. The Mitsubishi Motors mobile app enables remote access to the vehicle, including locking and unlocking, charging, and checking the parking location, all from a smartphone, enhancing everyday convenience.
The all-new Eclipse Cross features up to 20 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Ultrasonic sensors, cameras, and forward radar constantly monitor the vehicle's surroundings to support safe driving. With a range of advanced safety technologies, including the MI-PILOT2 same-lane driver assistance system for highways and the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system, it offers a safe and secure driving experience.
Safety is based on the body structure of the new Eclipse Cross and includes materials with high energy absorption to prevent severe deformation in accidents at a speed of up to 65 km/h in front and rear impacts and 50 km/h in side impacts. The raw body consists of a mixture of cold-pressed body panels and hot-pressed high-strength steels to achieve the right balance between rigidity and deformation. As an all-electric vehicle, the drive battery also plays a role: the battery housing is designed to protect the modules and increase the overall rigidity of the vehicle.
