Mazda CX-6e debuts at the Brussels Motor Show, will go on sale in Europe this summer

Mazda today unveiled its new battery electric crossover, the Mazda CX-6e, confirming plans to introduce the model to European, Australian, and other markets. The vehicle made its world debut at the Brussels Motor Show on January 9 and is slated to arrive in Europe this summer, with an Australian launch planned later in the year.

The Mazda CX-6e builds on the Mazda EZ-60 revealed at last year's Shanghai Motor Show and follows the Mazda 6e as the second model in the brand's globally introduced collaborative battery EV lineup. Developed in partnership with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd., the CX-6e pairs Mazda's signature design language and "Jinba-ittai" human‑machine unity driving philosophy with the electrification and intelligent systems contributed by its partner, creating a versatile package intended to suit a wide range of lifestyles.

Stylistically, the CX-6e embodies Mazda's "FUTURE + SOUL x MODERN" concept, marrying sculptural form with advanced technology. Mazda says the vehicle's driving dynamics have been tuned to enhance the Jinba-ittai experience, with handling and ride comfort optimized for European market preferences. The model also introduces a suite of intelligent features, including voice and gesture recognition, advanced driver assistance systems, and digital side mirrors, all aimed at delivering a safer and more comfortable mobility experience.

The CX-6e/EZ‑60 rides on Changan's EPA platform and presents itself as a substantial, well‑proportioned electric crossover. Measuring 4850 mm in length, 1935 mm in width, and 1620 mm in height, it sits on a 2902 mm wheelbase with a minimum ground clearance of 140 mm. Curb weight is listed at roughly 2130–2180 kg depending on specification, and the vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating is 2590 kg. Practicality is strong: a 126‑liter front trunk complements a 549‑liter rear boot, and folding the second row expands cargo capacity to a maximum of 2036 liters.

Propulsion comes from a rear‑mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 190 kW and 320 Nm of torque, delivering a top speed of 185 km/h. The turning circle measures 12 meters, while approach and departure angles are 16° and 20° respectively, underlining its crossover geometry. Energy is stored in a 77.94 kWh battery pack (214 Ah) rated at 364.24 V and weighing approximately 550 kg; the pack is built from 116 cells and measures 2053 × 1498 × 142 mm.

Ride and handling are addressed with active damping front and rear, combining McPherson struts and coil springs up front with a multi‑link rear setup. Rolling stock starts with 19‑inch wheels shod in 235/55 R19 tires, while an optional 21‑inch package pairs with 255/40 R21 tires for a sportier stance and firmer contact patch.

The cabin is dominated by a sweeping 26.45‑inch 5K floating display driven by a 4 nm cabin processor, and occupants also benefit from a 50‑inch augmented‑reality head‑up display with an optional upgrade to a 100‑inch 3D HUD. Ambience and entertainment are elevated by a customizable RGB lighting system and a 23‑speaker Dolby Atmos sound system. Comfort features include zero‑gravity front seats and ventilation and heating for all seating positions, reinforcing the model’s focus on long‑distance comfort.

Safety and driver assistance are comprehensive: the CX-6e/EZ‑60 carries five high‑definition cameras, five millimeter‑wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors to enable panoramic imaging, sentry mode, navigation assistance, and automated parking functions. A broad suite of active safety, driving, and parking assistance systems is integrated to reduce driver workload and enhance security on the road.
