Kia EV2 debuts at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show
9 January 2026, 12:32:23
Kia has taken center stage at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show with the global debut of the Kia EV2, the brand's sixth dedicated electric model and its most compact electric SUV to date. Positioned as a new entry point into Kia's rapidly expanding EV portfolio, the EV2 introduces a fresh vision for accessible, emotionally engaging electric mobility tailored to urban life.
Presented under the theme "The Power of Firsts," the EV2 is designed to appeal to first‑time EV buyers and city‑focused drivers who want a compact footprint without sacrificing space, comfort or capability. Alongside the EV2, Kia also revealed the EV2 GT Line and introduced three new performance‑oriented electric models - the EV3 GT, EV4 Hatchback GT and EV5 GT - signaling a deeper push into electric performance across multiple segments.
The EV2 itself plays a strategic role in Kia’s lineup. Though the smallest electric SUV the company has produced, it delivers an experience that aims to exceed expectations for the B‑SUV class. Developed under Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy, the EV2 combines a compact, upright stance with confident proportions, a strong shoulder line and pronounced wheel arches. Vertical lighting elements and Kia’s latest Star Map signature give the model a distinctive, modern identity, while sculpted surfaces and wide-set tail lamps emphasize stability and presence.
The EV2 GT Line adds a more expressive, lifestyle‑driven interpretation with exclusive bumpers, body‑colored accents, unique wheels and design cues that lean into a more adventurous, premium aesthetic.
Inside, Kia has crafted what it calls the "Picnic Box" - a warm, calming interior designed as a personal retreat within the pace of city life. A wraparound crash pad integrates a panoramic wide display that merges a 12.3‑inch digital cluster, a 5‑inch climate control panel and a 12.3‑inch infotainment screen. Fabric-rich materials, horizontal design elements and ambient lighting contribute to a sense of openness and comfort. Storage solutions are optimized for daily practicality, including a flexible lower console, wireless charging tray and adjustable cup holders.
Under the skin, the EV2 is engineered for agile, confidence‑inspiring urban driving. Two battery options - 42.2 kWh and 61.0 kWh - deliver an estimated range of up to 317 km or 448 km (WLTP), depending on configuration. Fast charging enables a 10–80% charge in around 29–30 minutes, and the model supports both 11 kW and 22 kW AC charging. Kia has equipped the EV2 with technologies typically found in higher segments, including Front Collision Avoidance Assist 2.0, Lane Keeping Assist 2, Highway Driving Assist 2 and Remote Smart Parking Assist. Reduced A‑pillar width and a lower tailgate glass improve visibility, while features such as EV Route Planner, Plug & Charge and bidirectional V2L/V2G capability enhance everyday usability.
Despite its compact exterior, the EV2 offers interior space comparable to larger vehicles. Sliding and reclining rear seats allow legroom to extend up to 958 mm, and luggage capacity reaches 403 liters with the second row moved forward. A class‑leading front trunk adds further practicality. Kia has also infused the cabin with small emotional touches, including a cheerful "HELLO :)" greeting upon entry and a friendly "HAVE A NICE DAY" message at the end of each drive.
Connectivity and convenience features include the Kia AI Assistant, Digital Key 2, wireless OTA updates, Harman/Kardon audio, 100W USB‑C charging and a dedicated Pet Mode to keep animals safe and comfortable when the vehicle is parked.
Kia's performance ambitions were also on display with the unveiling of the EV3 GT, EV4 Hatchback GT and EV5 GT. Each model features dual‑motor all‑wheel drive, GT‑specific chassis tuning and electronically controlled suspension. Digital enhancements such as virtual gear shift, active sound design and dedicated GT driving modes aim to elevate driver engagement. The EV3 GT delivers 215 kW of power in a compact package, the EV4 Hatchback GT pairs the same output with performance tires and 20‑inch wheels, and the EV5 GT brings enhanced AWD capability and road‑preview suspension technology to the C‑SUV segment.
Production of the Kia EV2 will begin in the first quarter of 2026, starting with the standard‑range model, followed by long‑range and GT Line variants later in the year. Market launch details will be announced closer to the start of sales. The EV3 GT, EV4 Hatchback GT and EV5 GT are scheduled to enter production in the second half of 2026.
